Publishing

Ok, we're almost there

Before you click "Publish", there a couple of things to take care of.

Mobile testing

Look at your staging website on your phone. Don't use a responsive tool on your computer's browser, it doesn't work the same. Click on everything using your phone and an iPad. Rotate both of these devices and see if everything stays in place.

Metadata

OG Image

This is the preview image that show up when you paste a website's link in a chat or on social media. It makes your website feel more premium, so I encourage you to add it.

The simplest way to do it is by adding your logo and your title from the website.

Meta title

This is the little title that appears in the name of the open tab. It's quite important that you don't leave the default name, because it will say something like "Webflow", "Wordpress" or something else.

Favicon

This is the small icon that appears next to your meta title in the tab. It should be a 24x24 jpeg. You can just do an image that has the first letter of your startup's name on a white background. It's important that you don't leave whatever comes as the default.

Analytics

In order to understand if people are arriving on your website from your social media profiles or other places, install a simple analytics tool on your website. Go with something like Plausible, which doesn't require you to add a cookie banner. Google Analytics is overkill here.

After you've done all this, you can go ahead and publish the website. Show it to a couple of people so that you can see what the reaction is and don't be afraid of changing it all the time if you leads don't get something.

If you need a free consultation to talk about the website you're creating, go ahead and book a meeting with me and we'll talk about your project.
